The Urdd National Youth Theatre Company present the rock musical
DEFFRO’R GWANWYN (Spring Awakening)
Book and lyrics Steven Sater
Music Duncan Sheik
Welsh translation Dafydd James
Based on the play by Frank Wedekind
And heaven waits
So close it seems
To show her child the wonders
Of a world beyond her dreams
Do adults know best?
Why hide the truth?
Is it any wonder youths rebel against the system?
An honest and blunt portrayal of the joy and heartbreak of teenage life where emotion and hormones run wild and everyone feels everything to the bone.
Based on Frank Wedekind’s controversial play written in 1891, the rock musical ‘Spring Awakening’ opened initially on Broadway in 2006. It won an array of awards including Tony and Olivier awards and received world wide praise. This is the inspiring Welsh language translation by Dafydd James that was first performed by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in 2010.
